WOYWW 128

Happy Wednesday everyone.  I've not made anything this week - eek.  So as the baby scrapbook I've been working on has now been delivered I thought I would take this opportunity to share the album with you all.  The reason for no crafting is just regular day to day family life, the lure of pinterest and the internet (stealthily stealing my time) and the continuous job searching (grrr).  However, something should be happening at my desk very soon (like now!) as baby bug 1 has a children in need disco to attend, where the dress code is wacky, weird, wild and wonderful - "Mammy I want to go as pudsey bear", which then changed to Blush bear, and then after some brainstorming the cat in the hat was suggested.  So, the disco is on Thursday and as I type we have no idea what she will be going as, and there is a parent's evening to attend tonight, so let's just pray for a miracle (fancy dress is not my strong point).

Anway, here's the scrapbook (quite a lot of images).  Any suggestions on how much to charge for such a thing would be greatly appreciated :)

  4. Hi, the album is lovely - I like the colours you've chosen ... they're bright and cheerful and make a nice change from pastels. Can't help with you on how much to charge except to say it must have taken quite a few hours of your time to make, so they should be counted up, and then there's the cost of materials too figure into the equation - that might be a starting point. I suppose also you have assess what your customer is prepared to pay for something that is going to be treasured as a family heirloom. Hope you reach a figure that makes the work worth your while. I also hope you are successful in your hunt for a job pretty soon. Elizabeth x #78

  5. Aw, such lovely photos - makes for a great album. You'll not charge the complete amount for the time you spend on it, cos I sure don't for the stuff I make either! It's a great job though, well done :)

  6. Hello there. This is a super album. The colours are gorgeous. I too always have a problem with charging for albums I make. I usually add the materials and then double it. Failing that I ask Hubby for advice!! As long as the materials are covered I am usually ok.
I am surprised you have a desk after the comment you left on mine - and elephant AND a pig on your desk!! LOL!! Thanks for your visit.

  9. Oh what a beautiful album and a wonderful reminder of babies first year.
Sorry I can’t help with how much to charge someone for it thought, it’s a difficult one, especially as there’s so much time and effort gone into making it.

    Happy Crafting!

  10. Such a beautiful album, I'm sure they will treasure it. Difficult to know how much to charge isn't it? Such a lot of work has gone into it.

  11. What beautiful pages! I can relate to how busy things get and the limited amount of time. Where does it go? I find some days that I'm stretched too far and I get frustrated! I want to do everything but there is only so many minutes in a day! You aren't alone my friend! All in good time! You have a great week and thanks ever so much for visiting...it means a lot to me!

  12. The album is a real winner - I bet they're thrilled. I once did an album of a couples Golden Wedding party and they gave me £100 - it was way more than I thought to ask for, but they recognised the time and costs involved,...but I have to say that's unusual! Good luck with the fancy dress...I wonder what it was in the end..a tea towel on the head - shepherd!!

  14. For being # 1 this week, I'm awfully late visiting. I'm so sorry but, after a computer crash, I had to stop by. Wow! You are a real scrapbooker. Love all those layouts.

  15. Beautiful work!

On the charging front, you will never get back what you put in - I once worked out that my cards would cost £20 if I charged for my time as well as materials!

There's a crafters calculator out on the web somewhere. Last time I looked it worked by taking the value of the materials, your time based on national minimum wage, and then added 5% on top. Try that for size! (NMW is £6.08 at the moment)
