5 little speckled frogs (woyww 147)

Hello fellow woyww-ers.  Missed last week again due to an evil sickness lurgy bug which managed to get it's way through our whole family and other family members who don't live here, urgh.  Anyway, everyone is ok now and the usual chaos has resumed.

Easter and the end of school term is upon us, which means it's egg decorating time once again.  Baby bug 1 has been learning about all the obvious spring things at school and in a recent assembly which involved the telling of the hungry caterpillar story, the grand finale was the class singing 5 little speckled frogs.   So, it seemed only fitting that we should do the aforementioned 5 little speckled frogs as our competition entry (and why make life easy by doing only 1 egg, when 5 will do!)  So my work desk this week is the kitchen, which can currently not be used for the creation of anything edible....

The artist at work.

For all of you who keep commenting on the tidiness of my desk - welcome to my real world!

Frogs for dinner anyone?

Close up of a "delicious bug, yum yum!"
Hopefully I've managed to make it woyww just in time this week.  As usual I will have a sneak peak at more desks this week, where I'm sure there will be more easter and crafty fun!

Update:  I am pleased to say that baby bug 1 won a prize for one of the best eggs in her class - yay!

Christmas - in March?

Thought I'd better get my act together and make a start on the mega pile of photos I've got waiting to be scrapbooked.

So today I've spent a couple of hours doing a layout from Christmas 2010.  How it took 2 hours to make this I'll never know, but I like to move things around the page quite a bit while deciding on a layout and also have to factor in about 20 trips up and down to the stairs to get various supplies from the different cupboards dotted about the place (scrapbooking and a fitness session in one!).

There's red christmas tree background paper, the photos are mounted onto plain red paper with the title printed on it.  The tag is a normal luggage tag covered with some holly scrapbook paper.  The bottom right photo is of baby bug 1 writing her letter to santa, so I scanned in the letter and minimised it, printed it off and stuck it onto the tag, which was finished off with some green and white (butchers) string.  The tag is held in place with photo corners so it can be taken out and turned over, revealing a written out a copy of her letter on the reverse as the text is too small to read on the print out.

The other photos are of my 2 bugs with their advent calendars and one of baby bug 1 making salt dough tree decorations.

1 page done, about 30 more (at least) to go.....

Woyww 145

I've made it again this week, I seem to be hit one miss one, but life has just taken over here as per usual.  I've been busy this week making my lovely Mam a card for that mother's day thing - which is on Sunday just incase you've forgotten.

Here it is in it's developmental stages.  I raided the scraps box and used some polka dot embossed blue and green card for the background, cut out a leaf and stalk image from some My Minds Eye scrapbook paper and added an owl brad embellishment (bought ages ago from The Works bookshop).

Then I mounted the whole lot onto a piece of dark brown card, with some of the leaves trailing over the edge.

Finished off with a couple of little brads (one with a flower and one with lots of tiny hearts) and mounted it onto my kraft card blank.  I did want to put a "happy mother's day" sentiment of some sort along bottom left corner but my stash was sadly lacking in any such thing and I've got no money to buy any new stuff, so plain and simple it is!

I will endeavor as usual to get round more desks this week, just need to keep those time pinching pixies at bay!

The cat in the hat is back!

Slightly later than I had hoped, here's an update from woyww 143 and the world book day costume.  Here is baby bug 1 in her outfit:

I measured the hat while she wasn't here and my grand plan went wrong somewhere, resulting in it being a bit too small to fit on her head so a piece of elastic was threaded through to hold it in place under her chin!  We were going to use face paints too, but the prospect of getting 2 bugs ready, a costume on and being out the door in time for school resulted in a last minute dash to the dressing up box for a cat mask instead.  We did manage to make a bow out of funky foam (same as the hat) though.

The outfit was completed with a Thing 1 and Thing 2 made by baby bug from loo roll tubes, with pipecleaner arms and tissue paper hair.

It has to be said, the trip to school was entertaining seeing all the children (and staff) dressed up - we came across a few Thing 1 and Thing 2's a gruffalo and a pantomime horse to name but a few :)

The icing on the cake however, was that baby bug won a prize for the best costume in her class (!) and recieved a £5 book token which was lovely, so now all we need to do is fit in a trip to the bookshop (if we can find any that haven't closed down) so the baby bug 1 can spend her book token and they can both use their world book day vouchers too - not that I think we need anymore books....  (well, I did used to be a children's librarian so that's my excuse!)

and that's only about half of them!

Coming next..... the school easter egg competition, watch this space!
